Broadway Garage Bike Parking

1. Register your bike with the Harvard University Police Department (HUPD)
2. Complete the Parking Services Broadway Garage Bicycle Parking Form
3. Bring the completed form and your HUPD sticker number to the office of Parking Services, 46 Blackstone Street, Cambridge, and complete the registration process for access to the Broadway Garage bike parking area

Bike Guidelines

While in Cambridge, bicyclists must obey the following rules:

• Between dusk and dawn a bicycle is required to have a red light on reflector on the rear and a white headlight on the front, as well as side reflectors.
• Bicyclists must obey all traffic laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, including red lights, stop signs, and riding with traffic.
• Bicyclists should stay to the right of the roadway, except for left-hand turns, or where bike lanes direct otherwise, and must ride single file.
• A bicyclists shall not pass to the right of a bus stopped at a bus stop.
• A bicyclist shall park his/her bike upon a way or sidewalk so as not to obstruct vehicular or pedestrian traffic.

Massachusetts law requires bicyclists to use a white front light from 30 minutes after sunset to 30 minutes before sunrise. Visibility is a critical matter for bicyclists. Nearly half of all cycling deaths nationally involve cyclists riding at night without lights, although only 3% of biking occurs after dark.
