Ride Sharing
Carpool
Beginning September 1, 2009, carpooling will now be available for employees commuting 4 days per week to accommodate those employees who may work flex schedules, compressed work weeks or telecommute from home.
Two or more full-time Harvard employees who carpool to the Cambridge or Allston/Brighton campuses either four or five days a week are eligible for on-campus parking in unreserved garages and lots at a reduced rate of 50% for a 2 person carpool and 75% for a 3 or more person carpool. Twice per year, carpoolers will continue to be eligible for the Emergency Ride Home (ERH) Program and, with the exception of the primary permit holder, each carpooler with a registered vehicle will receive 4 temporary passes per month to allow participants to park separately when schedules vary.

Steps for establishing a carpool in Cambridge or Allston/Brighton:
1) Get a Partner(s)! Don't have one?
- Contact CommuterChoice at commuterchoice@harvard.edu or 617-384-RIDE to find a match.
2) Each participant must:
- Read and Sign the Carpool Program Goals and Policies Form.
- Complete the Carpool Registration Form
- Fax above forms, 617-495-9119 Attn: CommuterChoice, to start the carpool approval process
3) If approved, each participant must:
- Fill out a parking application (if not already parking) for approved lot.
- Read the Emergency Ride Home Guidelines
- Complete the Emergency Ride Home Registration Form
- Complete an Emergency Ride Home Confirmation Form and return via fax, 617-495-9119 Attn: CommuterChoice if this service is ever used.
After completing required paperwork, bring all documentation to Parking Services/CommuterChoice, 46 Blackstone Street, 1st floor, to pick up your carpool hangtag.
